"What is Bask about?" First and foremost, we are family. Bask is about achieving a dream that a brother and sister shared growing up. We, Brian and Kristie, wanted to work together doing something we loved. We made a commitment to ourselves as young adults that we would never do anything that didn't make us happy. This means never being upset that we have to go to work and never compromising our morals or integrity for the sake of a dollar. Bask is our commitment to that... to make our own sunshine.
Bask is also about our home, Babcock Ranch, where we were raised and where we still live today almost 30 years later. Our philosophy is simple. Wine is about a time and a place. The land that provides us the fruit is fixed, we can't change it nor would we want to. But time is always changing, never stopping, never standing still. No moment is exactly like the previous one, and this is a good thing, we embrace change. Bask is about taking a year long picture of Babcock Ranch; a physical and emotional portrait of the relationship we share with the soil, the vines and the climate, and placing it into a bottle.
Our winemaking style infuses with our philosophy. Wine is and should always be fun. We will not make a wine conform to a recipe, rather we will conform our style to the wines as they dictate. This assures that every time you open a new vintage of Bask it will not be a carbon copy of the previous vintage. Each variety and vintage will have its own identity and appeal. Our goal is to deliver enjoyable and exciting wines each and every year. |
